The United States Border Patrol has a proud history of over 75 years of service to our nation. The border patrol's history started in 1904 to stop illegal Chineese Immigration, but was founded on May 28, 1924.(CBP & U.S. Border Patrol). A matter of fact the first border patrol agent (BPA) died in 1947.  The United States of America has two borders. Their is one on the Canada-U.S. side and their is one on the Mexico-U.S. side. The United States has workers that watch these borders 24/7. They are called the United States Border Patrol or the CBP. Their top priority is to keep terrorists and their weapons from entering the United States. They prevent narcotics, agrulcultral pests, and smuggled goods from entering too. They will also arrest people with outstanding criminal warrents.(CBP)

Last year the two border patrol agencies apprehanded around 2,800 people for illegal entry. These people that try to cross the border are called "Aliens". The people that lead them through the sercurity without getting caught are called "Coyotes". (CBP & U.S. Border Patrol) The "hotspot" in the United States for illegal entry is in Arizona.

These two agencies are apart of the Homeland Sercurity. Their most important duty for the day is called the "Line Watch". This is where the patrolers watch and walk the lines to see for any activities of crossing the borders. Their training requires a 55 day training if you have prior knowledge of Spanish. It will range from another 3 to 7 weeks if you do not. Their is two divisions of the border patrol. The regular Border Patrol where you are on the border patrolling, and the Special Operations Group, where you are like a S.W.A.T. team. BPA have been using horses to travel up and down the border since the begining of the 4-8 million dollar border. Horses are still being use today because they are a quick and quiet method of travel, because of the border's 2000 mile span its hard to patrol every inch of it. There is one BPA every 2-4 miles.Because of this 1-2 million illegal imigrants move to the U.S. every year. In 2004 over 155,000 non-mexican were aprehended trying to enter the U.S. from mexico. Securing the border is no laughing matter. To secure the border BPA  use's HumVs, helicopters, horses, and planes.

Being a border patrol officer is about sercuring the border so no drugs, weapons, or terrorist's come into the United States.  The United States Border Patrol was formed on May 28, 1924. The head quarters for the United States Border Patrol is in Washington D.C. (United States Border Patrol)

The job of a United States Border Patrol Officer (BPO) is very dangerous. The lives of nearly 100 BPO's were lost and thousands more wounded. So far 8,592 people inside the United States have been killed by illigal immigrants, and since 9/11 36,228 more people have died and thats just one issue. Some Mexican school buses are used off hours to transport drugs over the United States Border!  The U.S goverment states that 99% of arrested people crossing over the border are mexican citizens!

20,200 agents are responsible for immigration & border law enforcement! It's their job to keep illegal immigrates out of the United States, because of the popultion of  illegal immigrates increasing majorly. The Border Patrol is a specific responsibility they have 6,000 miles of Mexican and Canadian international land borders and 2,000 miles of coastal waters surrounding the Florida Peninsula and the island of Puerto Rico.(United States Border Patrol)

One of the most important jobs of a Border Patrol Agent is line watch. This involves the prevention of terrorists, undocumented aliens and smugglers of aliens at the land border by watching from a position, following up leads, responding to electronic sensor television systems, aircraft sightings, and interpreting and following tracks, marks and other evidence. Some of the major activities are farm and ranch check, traffic observation, city patrol, transportation check, administrative, intelligence, and anti-smuggling activities.(FAQs – Working for Border Patrol)

The boder patrol was estilished on may 28, 1924 and ever sice then people heve been crossing the border. About 250 Million people cross ever year. The boders total length is (3.169km 1..969mile). Most of them get caught while trying to jump the border, but some of the people do it the right way instead of crossing the border illegally so they can start over.
